Poker Near Southport: Where You Actually Play
When people search for Grosvenor Casino Southport poker, they often expect to see a local casino address appear straight away. Right now there is no confirmed Grosvenor-branded venue based directly in Southport, so that specific detail simply does not exist. Instead, we direct players to two realistic options that regulars from the area already use in practice.
Grosvenor Casino Blackpool is roughly 36 miles from Southport once you get on the road. Grosvenor Casino Liverpool sits closer at around 20 miles, and this is the one with a dedicated poker room that runs both regular tournaments and cash games on a steady basis.
Both casinos sit inside our national estate of around 52 to 53 venues across the UK. All of them operate under licences granted by the UK Gambling Commission and fall under licence numbers 614, 33465, and 34161 for land-based activity. If you are 18 or over, you can take a seat in a live poker game at either Blackpool or Liverpool once you arrive and register.
| Venue | Distance from Southport | What’s Available |
|---|---|---|
| Grosvenor Casino Blackpool | Approx. 36 miles | Table games, poker |
| Grosvenor Casino Liverpool | Approx. 20 miles | Dedicated poker room, cash games, tournaments |
To see what is open on a particular day and which tables are running, use the casino finder at grosvenorcasinos.com/local-casinos/casino-finder. It is usually the fastest way to get reliable, current information. Each individual casino page shows phone numbers and basic details, so if you prefer talking to someone directly, just ring the venue and confirm the poker schedule before you set off.
Live Poker Rooms and What You Walk Into
From a pure poker perspective, Liverpool is the stronger call for most Southport players. The poker room there is set up with cash tables running on most days of the week and a tournament calendar that regular players follow closely. That schedule appears on PokerAtlas so you can align your trip from Southport with a specific event or buy-in that suits you.
We also operate the Grosvenor Casinos UK Poker Tour, a branded series of events that move between selected venues across the country. Tour stops and dates are published through our official poker channels: @grosvenorpoker on Instagram and @GrosvenorPoker on X. The Goliath Poker Tournament sits within that ecosystem as one of the key branded events that draws a lot of attention every year. If you want to time a trip around bigger action, following those accounts is a sensible habit.
Across all of our live rooms, there are a few basics that never change. The one player one hand rule is applied without discussion at every table, and any form of intentional soft play between players is treated as a rules breach. That can result in penalties. These points are not local quirks - they are part of the shared framework that runs across every Grosvenor live room in the UK.
| Poker Format | Where Available | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cash Games | Liverpool, Reading South, selected venues | Daily, check local page for hours |
| Daily Tournaments | Liverpool, Reading South, selected venues | Schedule varies by venue |
| UK Poker Tour Events | Rotating UK venues | Announced via @GrosvenorPoker |
| Goliath Tournament | Announced annually | Major branded event |
If getting in the car is not ideal for you on a given day, there is still another route. Our online poker platform at grosvenorcasinos.com runs under a UK Gambling Commission licence with account number 57924 for GB customers. Players who are based outside Great Britain join under Gibraltar licences RGL 133 and RGL 134, which cover the same product from a different regulatory base.
How To Track Down a Live Game Near You
Over the years we have tried to make the process of finding a live game as practical as possible. Most Southport players follow roughly the same pattern when they want to lock in a session.
- Open grosvenorcasinos.com/local-casinos/casino-finder in your browser
- Type in your postcode or simply use Southport as the reference point
- Look over the search results - Grosvenor Casino Liverpool and Grosvenor Casino Blackpool will usually show as the closest confirmed venues
- Click on the venue page you prefer to see general opening hours, gaming times and contact details
- Check the poker section or use the phone number to confirm cash game start times and the current tournament plan for that day
- Bring valid photo ID to prove you are 18 or older when you arrive at reception
- At the casino, go to the poker desk or main reception to register for your chosen tournament or add your name to a cash game list
- Take a moment to read the house rules on display before you sit - from the moment you take a seat, the one player one hand rule applies to every decision
One extra piece of practical advice we have picked up from regulars: if you are travelling any real distance purely for poker, call on the day. Poker timetables move, tables break or fill, and a short call in the afternoon can save you a long round trip in the evening.
It is also worth installing the Grosvenor Poker Live app in advance. You will find it in the Apple App Store under listing ID 591108202. The app shows live information about current games and upcoming tournaments across our venues, which often makes it easier to decide between Liverpool, Blackpool, or another casino in our network.
